The truth is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with caution.
PAGES: 241 (Ebook) SYNOPSIS: Albus Severus Potter befriends Scorpius Malfoy and they go on an adventure. RATING: 3.75/5 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
First of all, the book is a play. The writing is so much different from the other harry potter books so don't feel disappointed because of that. It's a script so it would be different from what we are used to. It was still interesting and since it's not as descriptive as the other books, it's just a short read.
The plot wasn't really that amazing and it had so many plot holes but it was still enjoyable to read. Just go through it without analyzing it too much and you would enjoy it really well. I actually really enjoyed reading it even though I already knew what would happen (kind of got spoiled). The time travel aspect of this book was very interesting. It showed you so many things that could get messed up when you change something in the past.
Albus and Scorpius were adorable together. There were also many funny scenes throughout the book. It focused more on the dialogues and the feelings of the characters. Plus, seeing old and new harry potter characters were both nostalgic and interesting. I love that there is another book in the Harry Potter world.
I really love Scorpius Malfoy. He's just so adorable, kind, and fun to be around. I love that he likes reading and even though he gets bullied, he still has a positive view on life.
I love Scorpius and Albus' friendship. They got along really well and were very supportive towards each other. I hated that Harry almost broke their friendship and I was surprised that it was Draco who got them back together.
I was really shocked to see how kind Draco is in this book. He was an amazing and loving father towards Scorpius even in the future where Voldemort was alive and Harry was dead. He truly loved his son and his wife. I missed past Draco but this Draco was wonderful.
I'm really glad that Hermione ended up becoming the Minister for Magic. I was really shocked by this turn of events.
I'm devastated that Harry and Albus did not get along but you would really understand why. Apart from their miscommunication, it would be hard for Albus seeing how his father is famous for defeating the biggest villain of Slytherin and then Albus gets sorted into Slytherin.
Omg my feels during the part where Snape was revealed to be still working for the Order even when Harry Potter died. He was so proud that Harry named his son after him. It broke my heart when Snape, Hermione, and Ron all sacrificed themselves so that Scorpius could go back in time to save the future.
It was really irresponsible of Harry and the others to place the Time Turner in a place that's kind of easy to look for.
I was really happy that Professor McGonagall is still as badass as ever. She's the headmaster and it was really fun seeing her scold Hermione and the others for keeping the Time Turner in the first place. I was also really happy that she let Scorpius and Albus see each other.
I was glad that Harry and Professor Dumbledore had their talk. Even if Dumbledore is just a painting now. I'm glad that they kind of sort things out.
The Trolley Witch thing was really creepy.
It was terrible when they changed the past and Ron and Hermione ended up not being together. Even though I am not a die hard fan of Ron and Hermione, it was still terrible. I am glad that in the version where Voldemort was still alive, Ron and Hermione loved each other and was able to tell each other of their feelings before they died.
I am not even shocked that Bellatrix and Voldemort had a child. That's kind of disgusting but I think it's been a plot that's been used in fanfiction. It's not surprising given how much Bellatrix adored Voldemort.
I am annoyed that at one timeline, Umbridge was alive. That bitch still made me mad as always.
I wonder why Cedric killed Neville. Was it during the war? If not, why? I'm curious.
I was devastated when Draco mentioned Astoria and how he wanted to use the time turner just to see her again.
I was mad at Harry when he disrespected McGonagall. No one disrespects that woman.
FAVORITE QUOTES:
ROSE: The rumour is that he's Voldemort's son, Albus. A horrible, uncomfortable silence. ALBUS: It's probably rubbish. I mean... look, you've got a nose. RON: Nothing scares me. Apart from Mum. SCORPIUS: Have you seen the books on these shelves? There are some serious books here. Banned books. Cursed books. ALBUS: How to distract Scorpius from difficult emotional issues. Take him to a library. DELPHI: What have you done? SCORPIUS: I, uh, I opened a book. Something which has - in all my years on this planet - never been a particularly dangerous activity. DRACO: I'm not here to antagonise you. But my son is in tears and I am his father and so I am here to ask why you would keep apart two good friends. DRACO: Keep up, old man. HARRY: We're the same age, Draco. DRACO: I wear it better.
SYNOPSIS: Norah meets Nick in a bar and asks for him to pretend to be her boyfriend for 5 minutes. RATING: 5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I didn't really like this movie. The cinematography was alright and so is the story but I felt nothing for the characters. I didn't particularly enjoying the casts because I think that they aren't suited for high school character roles (probably because I just watched this now and I keep thinking of their current roles). I felt nothing for Nick and Norah together especially since the story just lasts for a whole night and it seems absurd to fall in love in such a limited time (especially since it's only just a few hours because it's a movie). Plus, I really didn't think that the music was the main focus of the movie. Still, I loved Nick's friends. They were hilarious.
I loved how supportive Nick's friends are towards him moving on. They really disliked Tris and I could see why. She was a bitch. I was glad that Nick left her on the road.
I was cringing every time they passed the bubblegum that Caroline dropped in the toilet. It was so disgusting and I don't understand why they kept eating it all throughout the night.
It was weird seeing Jay Baruchel as a asshole type character because I kept thinking about him as a nerd/geek in the Sorcerer's Apprentice.
KING ARTHUR: THE LEGEND OF THE SWORD
SYNOPSIS: A retelling of the story of King Arthur. RATING: 7.8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
You should not watch this movie when you are sick. Everything moves too fast. Just kidding. The movie was great. The cinematography, effects, and background music were amazing. To be honest, I don't really like the story of King Arthur and Merlin but I was intrigued by this movie. Their version is an interesting one and seeing it unfold was very entertaining. Plus, there were funny moments too.
It was interesting to see Roose Bolton (Game of Thrones) here and he wasn't really a bad guy which was shocking. Even Baelish was here and he also wasn't a bad guy.
I was very devastated when the girls from the brothel were killed by Vortigern.
Jude Law was amazing as Vortigern. He was scary, creepy, and powerful. Plus, his voice was amazing to hear. Vortigern was a really greedy character. He killed most of his family just to gain and power.
It was amazing that Bill could shoot an arrow that far but he managed to get Back Lack killed which was terrible.
Omg David Beckham!
The appearance of the Lady of the Lake was really creepy. Something just dragged Arthur through the mud like omg. I mean, sure she got the job done, but it was still pretty frightening.
Seeing Arthur use the overpower mode of Excalibur was amazing.
The giant snake that the Mage used was amazing and creepy at the same time.
The final confrontation felt a bit weird for me because it seemed like it occurred in a different realm.
NAOMI AND ELY'S NO KISS LIST
SYNOPSIS: Naomi and Ely, who's been friends for years, goes through a rough patch after their No Kiss List pact was violated. RATING: 8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I really enjoyed watching this movie. It focused more on friendship, family bond, and character development. It was very entertaining and you would really care for the characters. Naomi is a bit of a bitch in the beginning but as she matured, you begin to grow fond of her. Her friendship with Ely was adorable and funny. They were really cute together. Pierson Fode was amazing as Naomi's gay bestfriend. Also, he's really handsome. Matthew Daddario is also a wonderful addition to the cast. He was handsome and adorable.
It was terrible that Bruce 2 cheated on Naomi with Ely but Naomi didn't really care for him much as her boyfriend. They could have just told her the truth. Still, it worked out for the best because Naomi began to rely on no one but herself. She began to mature and take care of herself rather than relying on Ely.
Naomi and Ely were adorable together. They were really cute and it sucked that Ely was gay.
I was glad to see that Naomi managed to get along more with other people like Robin. They were also cute together. I also like the fact that Robin is Monique Coleman (Taylor in High School Musical)
I found Naomi and Gabriel together really wonderful and adorable. I'm glad that they got together even though it kind of broke the No Kiss List too.
13 GOING ON 30
SYNOPSIS: A thirteen year old girl makes a wish on her birthday to become thirty. RATING: 8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I really liked this movie when I was young and I still like it. The movie was entertaining and heartfelt. There were fun, cringy, and heartbreaking scenes. Jennifer Garner did a good job portraying the 30-year-old Jenna Rink. You could really see her act like she was still 13 years old. I also really love the fact that Mark Ruffalo portrayed Matty. He's an adorable man who deserved to get his happiness.
I was glad to see that Jenna found out more about what happened before she became 30 through Matty. He was able to give her a more down to earth details.
I felt terrible that Lucy stole Jenna's idea. It was a fun and innovate way for the magazine.
I was glad that Jenna realized the more important things in life like caring for your family and being nice rather than being a successful but a bitch.
I felt devastated for Jenna when she found out that Matty went through with the wedding. I was very glad that she got back to her 13 year old self and did the right thing with Matty. The ending was very adorable and wonderful to see. I'm glad that they got together and even managed to get her dream house (their house looked like the dream house that Matty built for her).
ALICE IN WONDERLAND
SYNOPSIS: Alice wanders through wonderland where everyone was waiting for her to slay the Jabberwocky. RATING: 6.8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I have already watched this before but I didn't remember enjoying it as much. When I rewatched it, I managed to enjoy it more (since I liked the Through the Looking Glass movie very much). This movie is very entertaining but it's very weird. The cinematography is very beautiful. The way that the story panned out was kind of slow but it was interesting. I liked how the story panned out. It may have been better if Mia Wasikowska was not Alice (I really didn't like her much). On the other hand, every other cast was entertaining especially Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. I liked his dance.
Hamish is a very weird person and I am glad that Alice didn't go through with marrying him. I'm glad that Hamish's father was able to give her the freedom she wanted by letting her be his apprentice.
I liked seeing how Alice became friends with the Bandersnatch. Sure, they were the ones who stole his/her eye but it was amazing that he/she was still able to trust her afterwards and even became loyal to her.
I liked hearing that the voice of the Jabberwocky is Chistopher Lee. That's amazing.
I liked seeing Mad Hatter and Alice's interactions. They seemed to have a real bond and it was wonderful to see.
EVERYTHING EVERYTHING
SYNOPSIS: Maddy, who's not allowed to leave her home because of SCID, falls in love with her new neighbor. RATING: 5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
The interactions between Maddy and Olly were cute and adorable but I really didn't feel much for them. I found the story quite predictable and because I kind of spoiled myself of what happened in the ending, I really didn't enjoy it. Nothing much happened all throughout the movie and some of the things that happened kind of annoyed me. Plus, the movie kind of bored me.
I was glad that Maddy had Carla. She was very kind towards Maddy and she took care of her. She wanted Maddy to be happy and supported her.
I hated Pauline. Sure, she wanted her daughter to be safe but it didn't seem like a rational person would do what she did. I'm curious as to how she could continue being a doctor without breaking down. I was glad that Maddy left her. What she did was not something you could forgive easily.
It seemed irresponsible of Maddy to go to Hawaii with a guy she just met. I mean, she knew that she could probably die, but she risked for one day of flirting?? Does not seem rational to me. Seems stupid.
MAMMA MIA
SYNOPSIS: Sophie who is about to get married tries to find her father so that he could walk her down the aisle. RATING: 8.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I am truly amazed that they were incorporate many ABBA songs in the movie and it didn't feel forced. The movie was really fun. It seemed a bit weird at some points but it was very entertaining. It was very warm and cheerful to watch. The casts were amazing especially Meryl Streep. Her role her was really different from the one she had as Miranda from the Devil Wears Prada but she still nailed it. I was also amazed that the other five casts (the three maybe-dads, and Donna's friends) were also famous people. I was also amazed to see Pierce Brosnan singing. He wasn't as good as the others but it was still fun. Plus, I really like him.
It's funny that even Donna doesn't know who the real father is. I really want to know who the real father is!
If it's true that there is a sequel, I can't wait for it! Hopefully, they'll finally confirm who Sophie's true father is.
It was fun seeing Donna and Sam get married. They finally resolved their issues after all these years. It was fun seeing them got back together and knowing what happened in the past.
It was fun to see that Rosie is also Molly Weasley, Tanya is also Beverly Hofstadter, Bill is Bootstrap Bill, and Harry is the guy from Kingsman.
I really thought that each of Donna's friend would end up with her ex-lovers. It was funny that Harry was opted to be gay rather than be paired up with Tanya or Rosie.
SYNOPSIS: A man inherits the house of his uncle who passed away which contains 12 ghosts. RATING: 6.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I remember that I loved this movie when I was young but now that I watched it again, it wasn't super amazing but it was still good. It was scary because some of the ghosts were really violent. I would have loved it more if each of the background of the ghosts were told in the movie. Things escalated pretty quickly. The story was fast paced and interesting.
I felt bad for Dennis. Even though it was his fault that the ghosts were captured, he only wanted his share of money and he tried to help the others escape. He even died saving Arthur.
Cyrus is an asshole. He led his relatives to die just so he can gain knowledge.
I felt bad for Arthur's family when they found out that Jen was there. They were all heartbroken by her loss but I loved that she tried to save them from the other ghosts.
Ben was to blame for the things that happened. He was greedy and trapped everyone in the house. I'm glad that he died.
Maggie was the best nanny ever. She saved everyone in the end even though she wasn't really supposed to be there.
SHREK
SYNOPSIS: Shrek agrees to rescue Princess Fiona in order to get his swamp back. RATING: 8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I really enjoyed watching this film. The humor was amazing. It made me laugh out loud. There was depth to Shrek's character and Donkey was annoying at some parts but at some he was really fun. I also liked that it made fun of other fairytales and that it has it's own beauty standards. Plus, the songs are fun.
I love the puns regarding Lord Farquaad's height.
I love the romance between Shrek and Fiona because she fell for him even though he is an ogre. She didn't care for her appearance after she turned into an ogre because she loved Shrek.
Donkey is a wonderful friend to Shrek. Sure, he is annoying at times but he accepted Shrek for who he is and did not judge him.
I love the scene where it was pointed out that Donkey is colorblind.
I found it funny that the dragon devoured Lord Farquuad.
SHREK 2
SYNOPSIS: Shrek and Princess Fiona get invited to visit her parents in the kingdom of Far Far Away. RATING: 7.8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I liked the first movie more but I still enjoyed watching this one. The humor was still amazing especially in the beginning. The story involving Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming was interesting. Puss was a wonderful addition to the cast. I'm glad the Fiona's father and Shrek got along.
I found the scene where Fiona threw Ariel back to the ocean really funny.
Donkey was really adorable but kind of annoying when they were on the way to Far Far Away. I felt bad for Shrek and Fiona.
Julie Andrews as the Queen was amazing.
It was adorable and funny when Donkey was transformed into a horse. He was fabulous there.
Poor the giant gingerbread man. He lost his arms and fell to the river.
I was glad that Harold understood his daughter and decided not to make her drink the tea and that he sacrificed himself to save Shrek.
Omg the dragon-donkey babies! They are so cute but how did that even happen.
SHREK 3
SYNOPSIS: Shrek went out on a journey to find the next heir to the kingdom of Far Far Away while Prince Charming plans his revenge. RATING: 7/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW: This is the Shrek movie that I liked least. It's still fun and enjoyable but not as much as the first ones. One of the reasons for that may be because I don't like Prince Charming and I don't care what happens to him. Plus, Arthur is not really that interesting. Still, I liked the scene where the princesses were shown.
It was funny seeing Shrek try to be royalty when he was a regent. It sucks that things didn't work out there.
I loved the princesses and I loved Doris the most. She was funny. I also liked that Queen Lilian headbutted the walls to escape their prison.
I loved the scene where Snow White uses the animals to attack the guards.
Omg Rapunzel is a traitor and is bald.
I loved that Artie managed to convince the villains to change their ways. It's like seeing Rapunzel (Tangled version).
SHREK FOREVER AFTER
SYNOPSIS: Shrek decides to make a deal with Rumplestilskin so that he could get a break from his family. RATING: 8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW: This movie was better than Shrek 3. It was hilarious but with a dark twist. It was very interesting to see an alternate version of events from the first movie. I managed to see the characters in a new perspective and it was fun. Seeing Shrek and Fiona's interactions in the alternate version made me fall in love with their relationship all over again.
The scene where the kid kept saying 'Do the roar!' was really fun and annoying.
It was amazing seeing Shrek try to befriend Donkey since Donkey didn't trust him in the beginning. You could see how much Donkey's friendship meant to him.
It was funny that Puss was very fat in the alternate version. He was so cute and fluffy.
It was very entertaining to see that Fiona managed to free herself but it was terrible that it was at the cost of true love. I'm glad that Shrek managed to make her fall in love with him all over again. He was willing to sacrifice himself for Fiona's cause which was amazing.
The scene where Pied Piper made the ogres dance was really fun.
I'm glad that Shrek was able to appreciate his family and friends after his experience.
THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD
SYNOPSIS: A professional bodyguard was assigned to protect a hitman that he loaths. RATING: 9/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I really had an amazing time watching this. It was really funny and full of action. The interactions between Michael and Darius were hilarious. I like that they managed to set aside their differences and work together. They even bonded.
PS: Children should not be allowed to watch it because it's full of cursing.
The romance between Sonia and Darius was hilarious.
I loved the scene where Michael was thrown out of the car after he didn't wore a seatbelt.
It was funny and endearing that Darius killed Dukhovich because Dukhovich shot Michael.
THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
SYNOPSIS: Andy, a simple and smart girl, was hired as an assistant to a demanding editor-in-chief of a well-known fashion magazine. RATING: 6.3/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I don't really get the point of the whole movie. Sure, it was entertaining to see Andy rose up and get recognition from Miranda who is really demanding but what really is the point? Don't be ambitious? Focus on caring more about yourself and not what others want you to be? Don't be a bitch? Anyway, the cast was amazing. Anne Hathaway was really beautiful and the outfits she wore throughout the movie were stunning. Meryl Streep was scary as Miranda. She nailed it. I loved Stanley Tucci's character. He was really supportive towards Andy. He helped her a lot and it sucked what happened to him.
I don't like what happened to Andy's relationship with her friends and boyfriend. Sure, it may be her fault for following Miranda's every whim but they could have tried to understood her more.
It wasn't fair that Emily blamed Andy for the Paris thing because sure she got replaced but Miranda threatened to fire Andy if she didn't come.
I don't like the Christian character. He was just there to seduce Andy or something. Sure, he helped her but still nah.
I'm glad that Andy managed to free herself from the Runway industry. She made a choice to free herself and do what she really wants.
BABY DRIVER
SYNOPSIS: A young man was forced to be the getaway driver of several crimes. RATING: 8.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I really liked this movie. The main thing to know is that it doesn't focus on the heists. The story was very entertaining to watch. The cinematography and the car scenes were amazing. I loved the songs that were used. My friend described the movie as a big music video and it seems like it was true. I love how the story panned out. It kept me on the edge of my seat.
I love seeing Baby and Joseph's scenes. They were adorable together and I loved seeing how much they cared for each other.
I liked Doc's character in the end because he helped Debora and Baby. Still, he was the main reason that they had to go through that.
I still don't get why Miles decided to use the name Baby as his nickname. It's kind of disturbing and weird.
I really find Eiza Gonzalez pretty and Jon Hamm handsome.
Jamie Foxx as Bats was amazing because you would really be scared of how crazy he is. I'm glad that he wasn't the main villain in the end. That would have made things predictable.
I felt bad for Darling's death because Buddy was really heartbroken.
SYNOPSIS: Two thieves managed to find their way to El Dorado, the city of Gold. RATING: 7.8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
This movie is full of fun and adventures. It is full of funny scenes, lines, and interactions and the songs are catchy. Also, El Dorado is a beautiful city. I liked Miguel and Tulio's friendship. Even though they had their issues, they manage to resolve things. Although they were kind of greedy, they managed to do right things. Plus, Altivio, the horse, is so adorable.
I love how Miguel and Tulio did not care about the gold in the end. They just wanted to protect El Dorado from Cortes.
Come to think of it though, how will the people of El Dorado manage to survive if they are trapped inside their place? What if their supplies vanish? I am worried.
I liked Chel. Even though she had her own motive, she managed to help Tulio and Miguel a lot. I love how much innuendo her character showed towards Tulio.
I loved how innocent Miguel is and how he wanted to stay with the people of El Dorado at some point. I was heartbroken when Miguel got mad at Tulio. I think he wouldn't have cared about Chel and Tulio being together, it's just that he heard Tulio say that 'Forget Miguel' which is heartbreaking coming from your best friend.
I love how they took in Altivio. Miguel risked his own life to save Altivio in the sea.
Tzekel-Kan is a psycho character that deserved what he got. He put the people of El Dorado in danger just to prove his point and his ways are dark and sadistic. How did he even manage to get into that position?
WATER FOR ELEPHANTS
"I don't know if I picked that circus. But something told me that circus picked me."
SYNOPSIS: A man decided to run away and accidentally stumbled upon a traveling circus which he joined RATING: 9/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I avoided this movie for a long time because I thought it would be boring. I was very wrong. The movie was beautiful and it was very interesting to watch. The cinematography was great and Rosie was fun to watch. I really loved seeing the story unfold and the life in the circus was also intriguing and mesmerizing to see.
The actors did a good job portraying their roles and they had a lot of chemistry. Robert Pattinson was amazing as Jacob who is an amazing and caring character. I love how he fought for what he wanted and he took great care of the animals. Reese Witherspoon as Marlena was also amazing. She was beautiful and her stunts with the animals were also beautiful. Lasly, Christoph Waltz was intimidating and charming as August. I was legitimately scared of him at some point but he was mesmerizing.
I loved Camel and Walter. They took care of August and helped him. It was terrible what happened to them and I hated August for it.
It was scary knowing what happened to the people who disobeyed August. How they were thrown off a moving train. I feel bad for them.
I loved seeing Marlena and Jacob fall in love with each other. Even though it was wrong because Marlena was married, Jacob was so good to her and August was not. I love that they ended up together in the end and that they kept Rosie and the circus going for a while.
Rosie, the elephant, was wonderful. I hated that August hurt her so much in the beginning.
OKJA
SYNOPSIS: Mija decided to go on a journey to get her bestfriend, Okja - a genetically engineered pig, back from a company that took her. RATING: 8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I loved this movie. It was really interesting and it dealt with an interesting topic: animal abuse. Even though the animal (superpig) was fictional, the events that happened to them could be true in real life and it could open our mind about what is happening with the meat we eat. The way the story unfolded hurt me so much because we saw how much Mija cared for Okja and Okja suffered so much throughout the film. I wanted more justice in the end but we could see that the movie showed a more realistic approach with how it ended.
The cinematography of this movie was beautiful. The superpigs looked scarily realistic. Seo Hyun Ah was a great cast for Mija because she was amazing. She was able to touch the hearts of the watchers (at least for me) and you could see how genuine her love is for Okja.
Tilda Swinton is in another weird role. Her appearances was really really weird. She was also scary and evil in this one.
I hated how much animal abuse was shown in this movie. It did not help that some parts could actually be true about the pigs and cows we eat but it was more evil in the film because we fall in love with Okja. I hated that they couldn't save the others but I loved that Mija managed to hide a baby one.
I felt bad for Gyllenhaal's role (even if he looked like a pedophile here) because he was an animal lover. It was sick what they made him do to the superpigs. How they made a sick abomination mate with the normal ones and how they extract meat from them while they are alive.
I am curious if there is going to be a sequel because the ALF members got out. I was also happy that Lily Collins is part of their crew. I love her.
I hated that K lied to them about Mija's approval. Because of his lie, Okja had to suffer so much.
INCEPTION
"What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere."
SYNOPSIS: A group of people who uses dream technology decided to plant an idea in someone's mind. RATING: 8.3/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
It took me years before I finally watched this movie and it was worth it. The movie was very interesting. The use of the dream world was very tricky. If you don't focus much while watching the movie, you will get lost. There are many little interesting details and unexpected twist and turns. I loved seeing how the story unfolded.
I loved seeing Cillian Murphy here. I love that guy. I'm just kind of disappointed that his eyes weren't given much focus. They are really beautiful.
It was bad seeing what happened with Mal and Cobb. It broke my heart how Mal believed with all her heart that her world wasn't real and decided to commit suicide. It was also devastating that it was because of an idea that Cobb put in her mind.
I was devastated when Saito got shot. He was an interesting character and I'm glad that Cobb got him back.
The ending was very interesting because you don't know if it's the real world since you didn't see the spinning top stop its spinning. Although it's great that Cobb finally get to see his children again.
GROUNDHOG DAY
"Well, what if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today."
SYNOPSIS: An arrogant weatherman had to repeat a day he hated over and over again. RATING: 9/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
At first, I thought that the movie was going to be boring since it had to repeat the same day over and over but it wasn't. I loved the movie. It had a lot of funny lines and scenes which made me laugh out loud but there were also serious ones (especially after Phil got over the fun part and lost his mind). Phil had a much needed character development and it was amazing to see him change.
I love the scene where Phil finally smashes the clock radio which has been repeating the same thing each and every morning which drove me insane at some point.
I love the scene where Phil punched Ned. Ned was annoying and he deserved that.
It was funny seeing Phil try to trick ladies into going out with him by doing a trial and error about things to do and say over and over again but it seemed sad after a while especially with Rita.
I was devastated when Phil got depressed. I know he was annoying and hateful in the beginning but it was so devastating seeing him kill himself over and over again.
It was lovely to see that the way to stop the day from repeating over and over again was for Phil to be kind to everyone all throughout the day. I was also glad that he finally got together with Rita and she remembered.
TO THE BONES
"Bad things are going to happen. That's not negotiable. What is, is how you deal with it."
SYNOPSIS: A story about a girl who has anorexia. RATING: 7/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW: The film had beautiful cinematography. The topic it talked about was difficult to see. I couldn't relate to it but it was hard seeing Ellen. She was so scarily thin and I felt scared for her. I felt that the movie was lacking something and it ended in an abrupt way. I kind of wish there was more. Still, Lily Collins did an amazing way portraying Ellen.
Keanu Reeves had a weird role as the psychiatrist. Sure he was really handsome but that doctor doesn't seem like he's doing something right.
It was hard seeing Ellen waste so much food with her night out with Luke.
I was heartbroken when Megan lost her baby. They were all excited and happy and I just can't.
It was hard knowing that Lily Collins really went through anorexia in real life. So that's why she's really thin when I first saw her. I'm glad that she managed to overcame it and she looks much more healthy now.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MONDAY?
"What happens to one of you, happens to all of you."
SYNOPSIS: In a world where there must only be one child in a family, a set of septuplets must avoid the government discovering the truth about them. RATING: 8.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
This movie had a very interesting concept about what could happen in the future. It was interesting seeing things unfold. It was full of action, mystery, and deceit. I feel bad for all the family who had many children especially after the twist was revealed. Plus, Noomi Rapace did an amazing job portraying her roles.
I felt bad that many of the sisters had to die (especially Friday - she was precious and smart I liked her very much) because of Monday what did. Although, you can understand her reasoning behind her choice it was still terrible.
Terrence was a terrible grandfather for naming his grandchildren after the days of the week but it is smart. I was sad that he didn't make much appearance in their adult life. I was glad that he cared for them so much that he went through the trouble of preparing them of how to survive. I was heartbroken during the scene where he had to cut off the fingers of his grandchildren because Thursday sneaked out and lost her finger.
It was devastating to see that the children who were supposed to be put in "cryosleep" were instead incinerated. That was just evil. I know that they lack resources but that's a human life. I was glad when Cayman lost her position and was sentenced to die for what she did.
DESPICABLE ME 3
SYNOPSIS: Gru finds out that he has a twin brother named Dru. RATING: 6/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
The movie still had it's funny moments but it's not the same as the first ones. You can really feel that the franchise has simply been extended for far too many films. The plot including Gru's twin brother was kind of fun but not enough and Balthazar Bratt was just annoying. Still, the minions and Agnes are there to make you want to see it because they are just too adorable.
It was funny seeing Gru's mother again. She's still a terrible mother as ever.
I love seeing Agnes found out about the bartender's story about the unicorn and how Lucy beat up the entire people in the bar because she heard Agnes scream. It's also fun seeing Agnes adopt a one-horned goat who she thought was a unicorn.
The minions didn't really have much role here. They are just there to make the viewers enjoy their appearance.
Balthazar Bratt's reasoning behind his villainy is just so annoying. His moves are fancy but his entire attitude makes you want to kick him.
"Our lives are remembered by the gifts we leave our children."
SYNOPSIS: A group of people decided to search for the long lost city of Atlantis after they found a journal telling it's location. RATING: 7.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I found this quite enjoyable to watch. Milo was an adorable geek who's worth idolizing because of his dedication to his work. Their whole adventure was exciting and terrible to watch (simply because they encountered a lot of things that tried to block their way). The city of Atlantis was beautifully created. Even though you could see that it wasn't what it used to be (like in the beginning), it was still an amazing city that had advanced technology. Kida was an interesting princess who knows how much trouble her kingdom is on and wants to help solve it. I love that it didn't focus much on romance and that there were no songs (I like musicals but I feel like lately there's been to much songs on Disney movies). The climax of the film was gripping and the ending was great.
I was amazed by how much details were incorporated to create the scenes especially during the Leviathan attack and the volcano eruption.
I was shocked to see how many members were lost during the Leviathan attack.
Rourke is an asshole who deserved what he got. He was greedy and selfish and I was glad that Helga got her revenge after he threw her off. I wasn't glad that she died too.
GIFTED
SYNOPSIS: A child gets caught in a custody battle between her uncle and grandmother after they found out that she was a gifted child. RATING: 8.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I really liked this movie. There were comedic scenes which made the movie not feel really depressing/dramatic. It had comedic scenes that will make you laugh and heartbreaking scenes that will make you want to cry. The conflict that rose was really intriguing because you can see that both parties had their points. They just want what's best for Mary. I was glad to see how the story panned out and got resolve. The actors did an amazing job portraying their roles. Plus, Mary is an adorable child who is sometimes sarcastic and can act older than her age.
I felt sad for Fred, the one-eyed cat, but he was also pretty cute. I was shocked and sad when they found Fred up for adoption/euthanasia. I wonder what happened to the other cats that were with him.
I found Mary quite amazing. She can be adorable but there were many funny scenes that showed her sarcastic side. I love her and I was devastated when she and Frank got separated. She thought Frank abandoned her and I just wanted to go give her a hug.
I like Bonnie because she's a very supportive and kind teacher.
Roberta is a lovely character who really cared for Mary. It was funny every time she threatened Frank if he lost Mary and I like how much she helped and pushed him get Mary back.
TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY
"My feet will want to march to where you are sleeping, but I shall go on living."
SYNOPSIS: A ghost returns to earth in order to console his beloved girlfriend who hasn't gotten over his death. RATING: 8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
This is a truly touching and devastating movie. I really loved the characters and the actors did an amazing job portraying their roles. I found Nina and Jamie quite adorable together. It was very heartbreaking to see how much Nina grieved over Jamie's death. The death of a someone is truly devastating especially if you loved that person so much. The movie was able to show how hard it is to move on. It had a bittersweet ending but I loved it.
Seeing Alan Rickman was heartbreaking because he's dead in real life.
I was quite heartbroken when I saw that Nina was moving on and was starting to see another guy. I felt devastated for Jamie but he truly wanted her to move on and be happy. When I realized what Jamie was doing, I got more heartbroken because he was willing to ruin Nina's image of him so that she would be able to move on. It did not help to see that he was glad that she found someone else who could make her happy and move on from the pain and grief she was feeling.
DEAD POETS SOCIETY
"No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world."
SYNOPSIS: An English professor taught his students poetry in a way that made them express themselves more. RATING: 6.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
This was truly an inspiring movie to watch. I loved seeing the way Professor Keating taught his students. Rather than making them memorize things, he applied the poems in a more practical manner. The students were able to voice out more of what they really wanted. He was able to inspire them to break free and do what they wanted. It was also shown in the movie the negative effects to those who couldn't break free from control which was devastating. The actors did an amazing job portraying their roles especially Robin Williams. Plus, I finally know the story behind the 'O Captain! My Captain' line!
I loved Robin Williams's portray of Professor Keating. He was very passionate about what he was teaching and he truly cared for his students. He is a great epitome of a good teacher.
Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke looked very very young in this movie.
I was truly devastated when Neil died especially since he was portrayed by Robert Sean Leonard (I loved him as Wilson from House). It was heartbreaking that he couldn't fight for what he wanted and gave up entirely.
I really loved the scene where the boys stood up for Keating and salutes him with 'O Captain! My Captain!'. It was very inspiring and heartbreaking to watch.
MR. HOLMES
"One shouldn't leave this life without a sense of completion."
SYNOPSIS: A story of an old Sherlock Holmes with dementia who is trying to remember his last case with the help of the son of his housekeeper. RATING: 6.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
This is a very interesting take on the character of Sherlock Holmes. It seemed different to his usual uncaring self. He wanted to know the reason why he decided to retire and as the story progressed, we find out why. The case was a very interesting and devastating one. It made Sherlock realize that what he says and what he does can seriously affect the life of someone. The character development and realizations that Sherlock had in this film was very nice to watch. I loved seeing him bond with Roger. Ian McKellen is truly an amazing actor and he was able to portray Sherlock amazingly.
It was interesting to see how much older Laura Linney looked now compared to what she looked like in 'The Exorcism of Emily Rose'. Frances de la Tour also had a different appearance to her Madame Maxime look in Harry Potter.
I was glad to see that the Munro's stayed and that they bonded with Sherlock. He was able to have someone with him during his old age.
Roger is a very interesting boy who's very eager to learn and I liked watching him get closer and closer to Sherlock.
STILL ALICE
"Live in the moment."
SYNOPSIS: The story of Alice Howland, a linguistics professor, who was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's disease. RATING: 6/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
It was a very interesting movie that showed a realistic point of view of a person suffering from Alzheimer's. It also showed the reactions of her family about what is happening to her. It was very devastating to see Alice lose her memories and become dependent on others especially since she was a linguistic professor. It was also devastating to see how much her family wanted to help but couldn't. Julianne Moore did a really job portraying Alice and you could really feel her dedication to the role. The other characters also did an amazing job which made the movie better. Overall, this is a very heartbreaking but good film.
I can't help but think of the Boss Baby whenever I see Alec Baldwin in this movie.
I was really scared at the scene where Alice found her suicide video. I was glad someone distracted her and she lost that trail of thought.
I felt that the ending was quite abrupt.
BATMAN BEGINS
"And why do we fall, Bruce? So we can earn to pick ourselves up."
SYNOPSIS: After training with the League of Shadows, Batman starts to fight crimes in Gotham City. RATING: 7.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I haven't read any comics about batman but this was a pretty good movie. The story is interesting and it's full of action. It was kind of slow in the beginning because it needed to build up the story of Bruce Wayne. It was all pretty serious stuff. The gadgets that were used by Batman were all amazing. Plus, the cast were wonderful. Most of them were able to portray their character very well especially Christian Bale as Batman. He was amazing at it. I also loved seeing Cillian Murphy and Liam Neeson here as the villains.
I really love that Alfred is Michael Caine and Lucius is Morgan Freeman. They are both amazing actors.
I did not think that Katie Holmes was a proper cast for Rachel Dawes. She seems fragile for the role of an attorney.
I really really love Cillian Murphy and so I was really happy that he was here. The beautifulness of his eyes were very much seen in the movie.
THE DARK KNIGHT
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
SYNOPSIS: A villain named Joker started causing chaos in Gotham City and so Batman must stop him. RATING: 7.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
This is a strong sequel to the Batman Begins. The story was full of chaos created by Joker and it was interesting to see how they dealt with it. Joker is an interesting character and I wished we found out his true background (I don't know because I didn't read the comics). Like the first movie, it continued on focusing on being serious and dark. The cast still did a pretty great job portraying their roles. I felt really devastated because of the ending.
I did not like Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. He seemed pretty plain compared to the supposed image of Harvey Dent. I wished they casted someone else.
I like Jared Leto's version of Joker more. Heath Ledger's version was interesting but it was too serious for me. He was indeed creepy though.
I really felt bad for batman in this movie. He saved the city but he was deemed as the villain in the end because they couldn't let Harvey's image get ruined. They built peace based from a lie.
I knew that Gordon was just faking his death but it was still a tragic part.
I felt terrible for Bruce and Harvey when Rachel died. It was also terrible that Harvey couldn't handle it and Joker managed to convince him to join the dark side.
I hated Harvey because he almost killed an innocent child.
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES
"A hero can be anyone."
SYNOPSIS: A new villain, Bane, sets out to destroy Gotham City and so Batman must once again put on his outfit and save Gotham. RATING: 7.8/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
Even though this movie probably had the weakest plot, I liked it the most because it was less serious and had a brighter tone than the previous ones. It still had an interesting plot and I liked seeing how it panned out. It ended in the best way possible. The cast still portrayed their roles amazingly. Plus, I liked seeing Bruce's interactions with Catwoman.
I did not like Bane's voice. I thought it sounded wrong and not suitable for the character he is playing.
I really liked Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. She was strong and sexy. She also made the movie less dark.
I really felt bad for Gordon because he had to uplift the image of someone (Harvey) who tried to kill his son for eight years.
I really liked Alfred's character. He was a wonderful person who stayed by Bruce's side and supported him in his endeavors. I was glad that he saw Bruce in Florence which fulfilled his dream.
It was fun seeing Cillian Murphy again as Scarecrow. The punishment was really absurd because it was death or exile and the exile would just end in death.
It was great to see that Bruce's character developed into someone who cared about himself and feared dying.
