JULY BOOK ADVENTURE PART 1

I have finally finished reading the Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare!

Resulta ng larawan para sa ghosts of the shadowhunter market

WARNING: Some spoilers ahead!
1. The Lost World by Cassandra Clare (4/5)
• The story was not as amazing as the other ones. However, it was fascinating to see some of the events that occurred after the timeline of The Dark Artifice.
• I liked seeing Ty and how he was adapting in the Scholomance but I did not connect with him and Livvy before so I was not excited to read about their point of view.  The reason I was able to enjoy this story was that Tessa and Jem were a part of it.
• I liked seeing that Livvy was able to spy at Idris even if she was only able to gather little information. I'm concerned with what the people there are planning.
• I was truly scared of Livvy at some points because she was showing some side effects of being a ghost. Her connection with Ty was intriguing but I hated the fact that she almost took Baby Mina's life in exchange for hers.
2. Forever Fallen (4.5/5)
• I don't know what to feel about this story. I enjoyed reading about Jem's point of view. It was so fun and full of love. On the other hand, reading about Janus' point of view scared the hell out of me. He was such an intense guy and you don't know what he will do to get what he wants.
• I felt really bad for Janus because he suffered a terrible fate in his world. He had to see most of his loved ones die at the hands of the person who controlled him. I want him to be happy but not at the cost of Clary and all of the other people that are not from his world. It was not their fault that he had to endure so much pain.
• It broke my heart to see Janus looking at Alec. He was seeing what his Alec could have been if he hadn't died but I hate him for considering killing Max.
• It was scary to see Janus interacting with Clary. He was too close to her and she did not notice that it was not Jace.
• I don't know what to feel between the Janus and Ash's bond. I'm glad that they have each other to rely on but their bond could ruin many lives. Also, I wonder what Janus would feel when he finds out the descendant of the First Heir is a Herondale. Would it affect his bond with Ash or his plans?
• I could not handle my feelings when I found out that Raphael is alive in Thule and that he started a war because of Lily's death. I wish that there was a way they could get him from Thule so that he and Lily could finally tell each other of their feelings and be together.
• I loved seeing Kit Herondale. He was too wonderful and I love his interactions with Mina. I love how easy he bonded with Tessa and Jem and you could see that he cared for them a lot. I also love Tessa and Kit's game of Read that and Watched That.
• I love the meaning behind Mina's name. It was too touching and wonderful to read about. Although, her name is quite long.
• I loved reading about Jem as a father. He was wonderful to Mina and they were too adorable together. He also treated Kit as a son and I love that he was the one who will teach Kit to be a Shadowhunter.
FAVORITE QUOTES:
"I saw you once, about eight years ago, when you were still... I only got one glimpse, but you seemed so hauntingly sad. And so hauntingly attractive."

"Thank you," said Jem. "I'm very happy now. Your cough seems to be getting worse, Kit. Do you need medicine as well?"

Kit straightened up. "Nope, I'm good. Come on, Brother Hauntingly Attractive."
"There's no need to mention this to Tessa."
"And yet," said Kit, "I'm gonna."

Wilhelmina Yiqiang Ke Carstairs. For their lost Will, the first and only possible name, and wild rose because all of those who Jem loved best grew in beautiful rebellion.

"But- she's so beautiful," Jem said helplessly.
"And where might she get that from? I love you forever, James Carstairs," said Tessa, leaning her dear head against his shoulder. "But you are a fool."

"You're the girl Raphael Santiago started a war for."

Hope made everybody a fool.

"Saw that movie", said Kit.
"Read that book," Tessa shot back.

"We want you to stay, and to know that the choice is entirely yours, and we wanted to show you something. We want you to know there is nothing in this house more precious to us than you."

"My father, my sister, my son. They were all mine. And yet they all wanted you more. Valentine's sweet boy. Clary's golden prince. Ash's guardian angel."

"Isabelle is the love of my life, but her seven-layer dip is like the nine circles of Hell," said Simon.

Memories were like love: wound and cure, both at once.

"I never felt any differently about you in the mundane world than I do when you're right next to me. You're mine."
Ash smiled. "Who else's?"

"If I teach you to be a Shadowhunter, if I teach you to bear runes, it will hurt."
"That's okay," Ash replied. "The old Unseelie King hurt me. My father hurt me. I'm used to it."
"I don't want to hurt you," murmured Janus.
"I know," said Ash. "That's why it's okay."

"Hey, bad cat."
"He's a sweet cat, really," said Jem. "You have to learn how he likes to be petted."
"I know how he likes to be petted," said Kit. "By you and no one else."

"You're getting better," said Jem.
Kit grimaced. "I still get winded easily."
"When I learned to fight, I was dying from slow poison," said Jem. "... And I was, yes, still faster than you."

"Whoever you have loved, and however you loved them," said Jem, "anyone you loved would be lucky."

"Where there is love, Kit," he murmured into the wild gold of his hair, "there is no need for gratitude. And I love you."

APRIL BOOK ADVENTURE!

In here, I will simply list all of the things I read for the month of April. The individual posts for this will be created later on (if I ever do it).

I managed to finish four books in April which is amazing because I've been kind of in a slump. This is also the first four books I read for this year.
1. The Red Scrolls of Magic by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu (4/5)
• I have been waiting for this to be released so it's not surprising that this is the first book I read this year. I really love Malec and we got to see their relationship blossom in this book. I really love seeing them together.
• It's so nice to see characters we are familiar with in the series. The timeline of this is just after Valentine's War but we get to see characters that we first interacted with in The Dark Artifice Series which is interesting. I also got to see characters that are dead in the current timeline which broke my heart so much because it was fun seeing them again.
• The plot wasn't anything original but it was still an good enough book. It's good enough that it will motivate you to finish it but I must say that some of the events are kind of predictable.
• We got to see Aline and Helen! OMG.
• GIF OF HOW I FELT:

2. Best I've Ever Had by Abbi Glines (3.5/5)
• This is the first book in the Sea Breeze and Rosemary Beach Crossover that did not make me want to kill someone. It's still not the best thing ever from Abbi Glines's books but it is the best from the Sea Breeze and Rosemary Beach Crossover.
• I really loved Eli Hardy in the previous books and it was nice to see him get his own story. It made me mad that she made Eli went to some event that changed his personality because he was great before, and the Eli that returned seemed a little bit moody (though his reasoning is kind of valid). Eli's partner in this kind of surprised me because I did not see them together before (or maybe I just don't remember) but they were alright together. It just seemed shallow for me in the beginning that the foundation of their relationship was solidified because of sex but hey, it's an Abbi Glines book.
• I would have given this a higher rating if the ending didn't seem so rushed. After reading it I felt, 'That was it? Meh, okay.'

3. Verity by Colleen Hoover (5/5)
• How can I begin to describe what I feel about this book? I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I really felt what a person should feel when reading a mystery/thriller book. Even after finishing it, I still don't know who is telling the absolute truth. There are so many messed up events that happened. I managed to finish this in one sitting because I couldn't wait to find out how things would unfold. And oh, boy are you in for a roller coaster ride. Colleen Hoover is really one of the best writer I have read books from.
• I have managed to read almost all of Colleen Hoover's book and this one just managed to land itself on my top 10.

4. In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire (4.5/5)
• I wasn't really fond of Lundy in Every Heart a Doorway. She seemed bitter there. It was great that we got to read a book about her journey in the Goblin Market and how it affected how she lived her life. It really affected how I felt about her.
• I really enjoyed reading this one. The adventure was very interesting. The Goblin Market is a beautiful and dangerous place to read about. There are many rules that need to be followed and I admit I had a hard time catching up.
• Lundy was such a complicated character to read about. We knew how she felt about the Goblin Market all throughout the series but she kept denying what she wanted for the sake of others. I love her relationship with Moon and the Archivist.
• I felt the same emotions I felt for the first book of this series which made me really happy. This was a great story and I hope we get more in the future.

TV SERIES I WATCHED IN 2018

This only includes series I started in 2018, not the ones I've been watching for a long time but still has new episodes in 2018.

1. Medium (7.8/10)
• I actually started this back in 2017 but I finished it in 2018.
• I enjoyed watching this. The story and the way that Allison's gift affected each episodes were entertaining and interesting to watch. There were were some episodes that really broke my heart and some that are so fun to watch.
• I love the family relationship between Allison, Joe, and their daughters. They really feel like a family even though none of them are related.
• The only thing I disliked about this show is the ending. I will just pretend that certain events didn't happen. Like what I do with How I Met Your Mother's ending.
2. Forever (8.5/10)
• I really enjoyed watching this. The story was really interesting. I love the relationship between the characters especially between Henry and Abe.
• I really hated the fact that it was cancelled!
3. Brooklyn Nine Nine (12/10)
• I really loved watching this show. It was full of fun and enjoyable moments. If you want something to make you happy, just watch this!
• I really love the cast and their relationships. So much diverse representations in this.
• This is already included in my list of series to re-watch multiple times.
• Halloween episodes are the best.
4. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (8.8/10)
• This was such an interesting take on Sabrina. I really enjoyed watching this because I even though I'm familiar with the Sabrina material (I watched the one with Melissa Joan Hart), I couldn't predict anything at all.
• I like each of the episodes because you'll be able to see the different uses of Sabrina's magic. Also, I love how fierce Sabrina is.
• I'm excited for the second season!
5. Hannibal (7.5/10)
• I really enjoyed the first season. It was so mysterious and intriguing to watch. It had a slow pacing but Mads Mikkelsen's charm was able to motivate me to watch each episode. It was pretty interesting to see how Hannibal was able to befriend/manipulate Will all throughout the season.
• The second season was still okay. The flow of the revelation was pretty interesting to watch. It was interesting watching them see Hannibal in a new light and to see them have an issue about who to trust now.
• I was not able to finish the third season because I got bored. The pacing and the flow of the story got confusing and I don't really know if I will still continue it.
• WARNING: There were many gruesome and vomit-inducing scenes.
6. The Practice (6/10)
• I really don't know what to feel about this series to be honest. I enjoy law types of dramas but I really didn't connect with this one. I really didn't care about the cases they were picking and most of them annoyed me to be honest. I didn't really start caring for any of the character throughout the first season so I don't know if I will still continue this series.

KDRAMAS I WATCHED IN 2018

BEST KDRAMA OF 2018: Go Back Couple
DISLIKED KDRAMA OF 2018: A Korean Odyssey
1. Because This Is My Life (7.8/10)
• It was a pretty interesting KDrama. There were fun and adorable moments but but I felt like something was missing.
• There were a lot of things about adult life.

2. A Korean Odyssey (3/10)
• It's not even correct to label this my most disliked because I truly hated it. It had a lot of potential but it didn't work out for me.
• There were amazing effects but I did not like any of the characters. The story was messed up too.
• I did not care at all about the the romance because of the way they put it. It seemed force and fake at some points.
• The pacing was also super slow. I don't know how I managed to finish all of the 20 episodes.

3. I'm Not a Robot (9.3/10)
• I really enjoyed the story of this one (even though it's not really that original to be honest). I liked the flow and the ending.
• There was a roller-coaster ride of emotions because there were a lot of fun moments but there were also plenty of heartbreaking ones.
• I loved seeing the relationships and friendships of the characters develop and for some, mend.
• I am still shocked because Jo Ji-ah's hairstyle really changes how she looks like.
4. Go Back Couple (9.7/10)
• I really love this KDrama. It had an amazing story and development for a 12-episode show.
• There were just a lot of feels for the characters. It was all fun and games in the beginning but as the consequences begin to sink in, you can feel how heavy their decisions are.
• I really love the relationships between the characters. How some were able to mend theirs and some were able to develop theirs.
• I highly encourage you to watch this!

2018 KDRAMAS I DID NOT FINISH

This is the list of kdramas I started in 2018 but for some reason did not finish. I may finish this kdramas in the future but at this moment their status is unknown.

1. Suits
• I really liked the lead actors of this kdrama but I started this when it was still ongoing. I kind of lost interest because of the lack of next episode. I might still try watching it in the future though because I enjoyed the episodes that I was able to watch.

2. What's Wrong With Secretary Kim
• Sometimes, I really do suck. I'm already at the 14th episode of this kdrama but because I was enjoying it too much, I decided to stop so that I'll still have an episode to watch the following day. The problem is, I got busy and I never got around to continuing this.
• This was a really enjoyable kdrama. There isn't any plot-twist full story at all but the events and the romance is really adorable to watch. This is actually the only KDrama starring Park Min Young that I enjoyed.

3. Terius Behind Me
• It was nice seeing So Ji-sub again. He is adorable in this kdrama and I really enjoyed seeing him take care of Ae-rin's children. It was fun.
• I actually just stopped this because of the lack of episodes (I watched it when it was still ongoing).

4. The Beauty Inside
• I was actually excited about this before it came out because I really love the lead actors - Seo Hyun-jin and Lee Min Ki but I didn't actually enjoy the movie this was sort off based on so I kind of just felt meh and never got around to continuing this.
• The start was actually interesting but I didn't feel much investment in this. I may continue this in the future just for Lee Min Ki.

KMOVIES I WATCHED IN 2018

FAVORITE KMOVIE: No Breathing
DISLIKED KMOVIE: Cheese in the Trap
1. No Breathing (9/10)
- I really enjoyed watching this movie. It had a lot of enjoyable scenes. It was bright and inspiring. It reminded me of high school to be honest.
2. Along with the Gods (8/10)
- This was a really interesting movie to watch. The story was great. The actions of the lead characters left a big impact and will really give you something to think about.
3. - This was such a gruesome movie. The story was interesting but it had a very dark theme.
4. - I really disliked what they did to the movie. I was left confused and annoyed on how things turned out. I really disliked the recasting that happened. Only Park Hae Jin redeemed this movie for me.
5. The Beauty Inside (6.3/10)
- The meaning behind the story was great but I had a hard time connecting with it. I didn't feel the chemistry between the lead actors but that's probably because every other scene, there was a new actor for the lead guy.

2018 FAVORITE BOOKS

The books included here are the ones that made me really happy or left me satisfied. I did not include reread in this. Now, let's see the list!

NOTE: If you don't want to be spoiled, don't read the parts that are strikedthrough
1. Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (5/5)
• I absolutely love this! The story and the characters were fun. I love the relationship between the characters and I love the development between Blue and Jacques.
• I love this better than the movie because there wasn't any reason for you to dislike Simon at all. In the movie, you would kind of felt iffy at him getting used by Martin. Simon's just so fabulous and adorable here.
2. The Burning Maze by Rick Riordan (5/5)
•  The adventure in this was one of the best by Rick Riordan. It was full of fun, exciting, and heartbreaking things. I love how Rick Riordan wove the previous characters to the story so smoothly.
• It was fun seeing more of the nature related characters. Also, the Meliai were awesome as fuck.
3. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor (4.8/5)
• The book was fabulous as usual. Laini Taylor writes such beautiful books and I'm glad that she didn't let us down. This wasn't as beautiful as the first book for me but it was still an amazing book. I love everything that happened and how the story unfolded. I love how the issues were resolved.
• I love the characters especially since we see that there are character developments for some of them. The relationships that were built in the end were adorable and touching to see.
4. Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare (4.5/5)
• I really love reading about the Shadowhunter world and this is a good last book in a series.
• So many interesting adventures happened here and I really love how things unfolded.
• I love the relationships that developed between the characters (most of them) and I love seeing the characters from the previous series interact with the main characters of this book.
• There were still many questions left but we still have future series to look forward too!
5. Ghosts of the Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare (5/5)
• Out of all the anthology that Cassie has created for the Shadowhunter world, this one is the best (Sorry, Magnus).
• I love how we got to meet new characters from different series that Cassie is going to write next and we also got to know more about characters we have heard from before.
• It was a very interesting mix of stories and I enjoyed reading each of them. I gave most of them a 4.5 or higher score.
6. Circe by Madeline Miller (4.5/5)
• My only view of Circe before reading this was kind of negative. She was powerful but she used her power in a bad way. I liked seeing Madeline's take on her. She showed us how amazing Circe is. How fierce. She was one hell of a woman and I have gained more appreciation for her as a character. She showed us that Circe was not bad at all. She was just trying to survive her life. I love how empowering it is. After so many abuse that Circe had to take, she was able to use her power to overcome it.
• I loved the ending. It was a beautiful.
7. All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover (4.8/5)
• This was such an intense book. Most of the experience felt too realistic. It was relatable for couples even if you are not married.

BOOKS I READ IN 2020

I managed to finish my Goodreads reading challenge this year. Hooray! I re-read 15 books, but still, I managed to read 30 (8 are manga). Als...
