SYNOPSIS: A gypsy and a deformed bell ringer teams up together to overthrow an oppressive leader. RATING: 8.8/10
REVIEW:
I really like the story and the touching parts. It was also full of issues about society and will really get you into thinking afterwards.
I really like the songs. Especially the ones with the Latin chants. It sounded amazing and it suited the scenes.
I like the scenes. Especially during the fight. The church of Notre Dame looked so beautiful and amazing.
Quasimodo is just a precious person that should be protected at all cost. He's so kind towards others even after all that happened to him.
Frollo's expression and reactions are so meme worthy. They are either too funny to look at or too infuriating.
A nod to the gargoyles named Victor and Hugo (in reference to Victor Hugo, the author of the book).
SHOULD YOU WATCH
IT: Yes. It was an amazing movie.
It's funny that the archdeacon only shows up when one of the lead characters need someone to save them from death.
The line that says 'saw corruption everywhere except within' really summarizes Frollo. He's just so infuriating with his purify against sin thoughts when he himself is so sinful. He murdered a woman without remorse and lied to her son that she abandoned him. I really hate that guy.
I like that Esmeralda apologized to Quasimodo for what she did. She's to blame for triggering the events in the movie but without her, the citizens wouldn't have been able to start revolting against Frollo.
I really like the ending. They overthew Frollo and then Quasimodo was accepted by the people.
It was funny to look at the statues that were supposed to be judging Frollo because they really looked like they were judging Frollo.
The final battle scene looked so awesome. I love the fact that they added the molten lead scene. It will just make you ask afterwards what happened because everything looked so clean.
I hated that Esmeralda fell in love with Phoebus even after all the things Quasimodo did for her. I get that it was not the point but I would have really liked if they ended up together or if they didn't do their flirting in front of Quasimodo. Thank you very much.
It broke my heart to see people bullying Quasimodo and throwing stuffs at him. He didn't deserve that.
Those three gargoyles are such bad influences towards Quasimodo but they're just too funny.
I really like the fact that they named Phoebus' horse Achilles and Phoebus made him heel. It was so punny.
'Later Matthew would look back and remember it as his last happy day.'
SYNOPSIS: A story about Matthew Fairchild, Charlotte and Henry's son. RATING: 4.75/5 REVIEW:
It had an interesting story that might be an important background to Matthew Fairchild's character in the Last Hour series.
I really love Matthew. He's a fun character and I love his friendship with Jamie, Thomas, and Christopher.
Even though it's just a short story, you'll go through a roller coaster of emotions. Many fun and heartbreaking things happen.
I really prefer Cassie's shadowhunter books that are set in London. I love reading her writing here.
It's fun to see the characters from the Infernal Devices series.
SHOULD YOU READ IT: Sure. It was a quick read but you should probably read Cassandra Clare's previous works (mainly The Infernal Devices).
I hate that Alastair is such an asshole character especially since he's related to Jem who's just perfect.
I hate that he told Matthew of the rumor about Charlotte and Gideon. They would never do that. Charlotte and Henry are precious together (Gideon and Sophie too).
I really hate that Matthew sort off believed the rumor. Why didn't he just trust his mother?
It broke my heart to find out that Charlotte had a miscarriage. Especially since it was Matthew's fault - maybe it will be his Will Herondale thing? He believes that he's at fault for Charlotte's miscarriage but what if he's not?
It was funny to find out that Matthew is at fault for Christopher destroying some part of the Shadowhunter Academy.
I love finding out that everyone (of the important casts) still treated Jem normal. The children grew up seeing him as an uncle even if he's a silent brother.
It was funny to see Ragnor panicking over the fact that he might see Christopher Lightwood.
Matthew Fairchild's character reminds me a lot of Will Herondale (except Matthew really was just fun and pure in the beginning of the story). He also loves the cook.
FAVORITE QUOTES:
"Friends who were easy to get might be easy to lose."
"There can be no trespass when you are always welcome."
"They sell heartbreak as well as dreams."
"Is Christopher Lightwood upon the premises? Is our Market shortly to be engulfed in flames?"
"No", Matthew said, sounding amusd. 'Christopher is at home.'
"At home in Idris?"
"In the Lightwoods' London home, but it is far away."
"Not far enough!" decided Ragnor Fell. "I shall decamp to Paris forthwith."
"Watch the test tubes!" cried Thomas.
"There is a hole in the floor at the Academy that Professor Fell calls the Christopher Lightwood chasm."
"Come to me, Jamie that we might share a manly embrace."
He made incursions upon Jamie's person. James thwacked him over the head with his book. It was a large book.
"Betrayed," said Matthew, writhing prone upon the floor. "Is that why you insist on carrying about enormous tomes everywhere you go, that you might insist violence upon innocent persons? Done to death by my best friend - my heart's brother - my own dear parabatai -"
SYNOPSIS: A more realistic adaptation of Cinderella. RATING: 10/10 REVIEW:
NOTE: I have watched this movie a lot. I can't even count how many times.
I really love this movie. This is the best adaptation of Cinderella for me (it's even better than the original one for me).
I love how to story panned out. It's more realistic and there was a relationship even before the ball. Plus, there was justice in the end.
Danielle is an amazing character. She's not passive like the typical Cinderella. You would really cheer for her throughout the movie. I love that she played by Drew Barrymore.
Also, I really like the historical setting of the movie. It gave the movie a much more realistic tone.
SHOULD YOU WATCH
IT: Yes!! Absolutely!!
BEST MOMENTS:
When Danielle fought for Maurice's release.
Da Vinci's first meeting with Danielle.
When Danielle carried the prince away from the gypsies.
When Danielle punched Marguerite.
Spanish princess moment.
Da Vinci as the man who opened the door.
When Danielle threatened to kill Pierre if he didn't release her.
I really loved the ending. There was justice. Marguerite and Rodmilla suffered the same fate they put Danielle on.
Jacqueline was an adorable character. She helped Danielle whenever she can. I love that she ended up with Laurent.
Drew Barrymore was really pretty all dressed up in the ball. I hated that Rodmilla ripped her wings.
Anjelica Houston did a wonderful job as the stepmother. She was mean in a not on purpose way. That's just how she is.
SYNOPSIS: The Korean police chase after a serial killer. RATING: 7.5/10 REVIEW:
The story was really interesting but there were parts that seemed too slow (scenes without action). By the second half of the movie, there were twist and turns happened made things a lot better.
You would get really mad at most of the scenes but the ending was very good.
There are so many morbid/brutal scenes. I almost stopped watching in the beginning because of it.
Action scenes were really good and intense.
I was shocked to see Peter Stormare (Lucifer from Constantine movie) here.
I was really amazed at Lee Jong Suk here because he was so scary at some of the scenes. This is the first time I saw him as a villain and he did a great job especially since his previous characters were good guys.
Jang Dong Gun and Kim Myung-min were amazing in their respective roles.
SHOULD YOU WATCH
IT: Your choice. Take note that there are many morbid scenes.
I really enjoyed the ending. After all the things that Kwang-il did, he deserved what happened to him. Plus points to the fact that Agent Gray didn't know what Jae-hyuk would do what he did.
Argghhh the scene that showed the girl being tortured and murdered was horrific. I almost stopped watching because of how brutal her death was. Her entire family was also murdered just because Kwang-il wanted it.
I hated that Yi-do was shot by Kwang-il and he didn't seem to recover from that. He didn't die but he didn't seem really alive in the end. I was glad that Jae-hyuk stopped protecting Kwang-il and killed him so brutally.
It broke my heart to see that Dae-bum didn't get his revenge in the end. That was one twist that I did not see coming.
SYNOPSIS: The story is about the difficult relationship between Hong Seol and Yoo Jung. RATING: 3/10 REVIEW:
Don't get me wrong. I really like the story of this webtoon (source material - I haven't read it only watched the kdrama). I just didn't like this adaptation. It made the story confusing. In the korean drama, every bit of the story was shown (especially in the first nine episodes). Here, only the major parts were shown and some weren't really connected to what was happening to the previous parts. It wasn't a coherent storyline.
I thought that this movie was supposed to fix the weak ending of the korean drama. However, that didn't happen. The movie just wrapped things up neatly in a bow.
I prefer the cast of the korean drama. The acting of the cast here was weak. All of the cast of the kdrama were great. Why didn't wait for Kim Go Eun!!!
The only reason that I was able to finish this is because of Park Hae Jin.
Beautiful cinematography though. Points for that.
KDRAMA MUCH BETTER THAN THE MOVIE!!!
SHOULD YOU WATCH IT: No. It will be much better to watch the korean drama.
I really didn't like Oh Yeon-Seo's acting and I didn't feel any chemistry between her and Park Hae Jin. I wasn't able to appreciate their relationship in this movie because of that.
Things just escalated quickly after Young Gon's web posts. I don't know where the story went from there. It felt like it decided to skip on to the next point of the kdrama and just went ahead and wrapped things up with Young Gon. There was no explanation about the texts that Young Gon showed Seol.
Shockingly, Park Ki Woong worked as Baek In Ho. I really thought he wouldn't because he looked like a good guy actor rather than a rebel.
I don't remember Bo-ra being hit.
I was disappointed that Bo-ra and Eun-Taek's side relationship wasn't even mentioned or referenced in the movie. They were cute in the kdrama.
SYNOPSIS: A talented swimmer rediscovers his passion for swimming. RATING: 9/10 REVIEW:
I really liked this movie. The story was simple but it was full of fun and emotional moments. The characters were full of life and they had passion for the things they were doing. It was inspiring to see how much the characters pushed themselves to be the very best in their fields.
I really loved the friendship that developed between Woo-Sang, Won Il, Jung Dong, and Dae-Chan. They were a fun bunch and they made the movie a lot more interesting to watch.
I love the fact that there was no serious fight over a girl. They focused more on the competition about swimming.
Seo In Guk's acting was wonderful. His acting during the carefree moments were very funny. I love that they always baited him into doing something by giving him food.
Fangirled over Lee Jong Suk a lot.
Also, the cinematography was very good. The places that were shown in the movie were very beautiful. I loved the fact that there was a scene in the Philippines!
SHOULD YOU WATCH IT: Yes. If you want to watch something simple, fun, and inspiring. Plus, Lee Jong Suk <3
I really think that Jung Eun's character had to point in the movie. She was just there to add a female character to the group. Sure, Woo-Sang and Won-Il were fighting for her affections but it wasn't really emphasized.
I really hated the guy who bullied Jung Dong into leaving the group. Jung Dong is a precious person who must be protected at all cost.
I wonder how competitive Won-Il's father was that he didn't notice that he was going to drown soon???
I love that Woo-Sang's father realized Woo Sang's passion for swimming and respected his wishes. That was one of the best scenes.
I love that Jae-Suk supported and took care of Won-Il a lot even if they were not really relatives.
The only thing I did not like in this movie is that Won-Il in the major competition. He won over Woo-Sang who trained all throughout his life. That didn't seem a bit fair to me.
SYNOPSIS: A college student repeats the day of her birthday where she gets murdered. RATING: 8.3/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I honestly thought at first that I wouldn't enjoy this. I don't really like senseless deaths of characters in a movie but this one was really fun to watch. You would feel bad for Tree and you would grow to care for her. I love how things turned out and how she discovered the truth. I really liked the twist they added. Carter was a wonderful person and I found Jessica Rothe really pretty. PS: The baby mask was really scary. GIF NOT MINE.
I felt really bad for Tree after she killed the serial killer and then the day just started all over again. I really didn't expect it to be her roommate because she was kind of nice in the beginning. Giving Tree the cupcake. I had no idea she had an ulterior motive.
I really loved Carter. I loved his chemistry between Tree and the way he took care of her. I'm glad that they got together in the end though he was terrible when he played the prank on her the next day.
I felt like the doctor/teacher was really creepy. I really thought at some point that he was the serial killer.
I love how Tree used some of her lives to mess with other people, help other people and change her personal style. It was fun up until she realized getting killed took a toll on her body.
HOME AGAIN
SYNOPSIS: Three guys move in the home of a mother with her two children. RATING: 7.5/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
The story is somewhat really weird but the cast made it work. Inviting three strangers to live with you is creepy and dangerous. However, if you don't overthink it, the movie was quite fun. I like Alice and I like how she managed her life. The three guys were also wonderful and helpful towards her and I love the bond that they created. I love each of the personality of the guys. They were also able to bond with Alice's children which was amazing. I was shocked to see Nat Wolff here and Pico Alexander was so handsome. I was also shocked to see Michael Sheen.
It's funny that Teddy punched Austen because he was worried for Alice but it was devastating that she told them to leave because of it.
I felt sad for Harry after Alice stopped what they were doing because he didn't appear at her event.
It was creepy that Austen just suddenly appeared again and it doesn't seem like he really wanted to get back together with her. He just wanted to be with them because he was comfortable there.
TAKING LIVES
SYNOPSIS: Cops try to catch a serial killer with the help of a FBI profiler. RATING: 10/10 NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
I have watched this before but I still cannot emphasize how much I love this movie. The story was very intriguing and very gruesome. This is one of the movies that has an amazing twist in the ending. It was just so awesome to watch. I love how the story panned out. Plus, Angelina Jolie was very pretty here.
I was really shocked when it was revealed that it was Costa who was the serial killer especially after he just had sex with Illeana the night before. Her whole world was shattered by that revelation especially because she really liked him. She couldn't believe how wrong she was. Ethan Hawke was amazing in his performance as the deranged Costa.
The scene where Costa beheaded his mother was so brutal. It was so gruesome.
I was screaming in the ending part where Costa found the pregnant Illeana. Especially after he stabbed her in the belly. I was really devastated at that point. I really thought he wouldn't hurt his children. I was glad when it was revealed that she wasn't pregnant at all but she was just pretending to catch him.
ROCKETMAN
SYNOPSIS: A spacecraft designer was given the chance to join a team of astronauts going to Mars. RATING: 9.5/10
NON-SPOILERY REVIEW:
My boyfriend made me watch this and I really loved it. Even though it is an old movie, this is the first time that I watched it. It was so fun. Fred's quirkiness made me laugh out loud so many times. He was obnoxious at times but he was also endearing. I enjoyed how ignorant he was to what he was doing and he just wanted to be himself. He was weird in a fun way and I loved seeing him fulfill his dreams.
The Mars thing wasn't focused so much but Fred's action especially in the first part was very entertaining to watch. He was what made the movie really enjoyable.
I love the bond he created with his fellow astronauts. Especially with the monkey. He was willing to share his oxygen as long as the monkey live.
I love that he ended up with Julie. They were cute together.
